Austin Ecstacy Addiction Treatment
Austin is known for its musical culture. This has become one of the popular reasons as to why ecstasy addiction quickly spread to Austin in the early nineties. From country music to genres such as blues, Latino, rock, jazz, and even electronics—the city has got people rhyming and dancing for hours.
Although the DEA has been hard on drug-related issues, the spectrum of both former and current ecstasy users shows that nearly any type of person can be addicted to the drug. As a mind-altering drug, ecstasy is common at parties, weekend events, nightclubs, and other assorted venues where urban professionals, upscale clubbers, and ‘raver kids’ can easily access. Moreso, street peddlers often trade ‘fake pills’ as ecstasy for cheap.
Don't Become A Statistic
What’s alarming is that these contaminated pills contain dangerous psychoactive substances that are more harmful than the ‘love drug’ itself. While ecstasy conviction is punishable by up to a two-year jail term in Austin, the drug still remains the fuel of late-night parties in the city.
Recently, the Austin Police Department confirmed a case of three suspected overdose patients at the Dell Seton Medical Center. The patients were said to have overdosed on ecstasy and one of them eventually died that morning. Unfortunately, there are no specific treatments for ecstasy abuse. However, detoxification processes have proven to be helpful. For patients that battle with ecstasy withdrawal, SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) can be used to reduce panic attacks, anxiety, and depression.
